CANTON - Good news for Blue Hills ski bums: a piece of
legislation signed by Gov. Dukakis last month most likely means new
ski lifts, new snowmaking machines and other new equipment for the
Blue Hills Ski Area.
The legislation increased the number of years the Metropolitan
District Commission is allowed to lease to a private operator the
400-acre ski area in the Blue Hills Reservation.
For three years, the MDC has been granting one-year permits,
but now it can lease the area for up to 10 years and grant a
five-year renewal.
This, observers say, means bank loans will be easier to obtain.
