Article: GLOBAL WARMING TREND CONTINUED IN 1989, RESEARCHERS SAY

Though the bitterly cold December in the Eastern United States might suggest otherwise, 1989 was another warmer-than-normal year for the earth as a whole and continued the apparent global warming pattern of the 1980s, according to a British research group monitoring global temperature trends.

Although last year's global temperatures were slightly lower than 1988 and 1987, researchers from the University of East Anglia's Climate Reasearch Unit and the United Kingdom's Meteorological Office found last year to be the fifth warmest in the record dating back to the mid-nineteenth century.
