Christina F. Jeffrey, the House historian fired by Speaker Newt
Gingrich (R-Ga.), assailed congressional Democrats yesterday for not
trying to find out the truth about her record before they denounced
her, saying politics in Washington is an "evil" and "wicked" game the
American people should condemn.
Barely unpacked and sitting in the living room of the Arlington
town house she and her family moved into less than two weeks ago, the
47-year-old associate professor of political science from Kennesaw,
Ga., blamed the savagery of politics inside the Beltway rather than
her former mentor Gingrich for cutting short her new career in
Washington.
