Anybody who called this one is a seer. Anyone who knew the San
Diego Chargers would come into Three Rivers Stadium, take the
American Football Conference championship from the Pittsburgh
Steelers, 17-13, and advance to Super Bowl XXIX is being dishonest or
lives within driving distance of the San Diego Zoo.
This was an honest-to-goodness shocker. Not just because the
Chargers were nine-point underdogs, or because the Steelers had the
best running attack in the National Football League, or that a crowd
of 61,545 made this stadium a pit to play in today in their Terrible
Towel-waving frenzy.
Despite all of that, the Chargers stayed true to themselves. They
