CHICAGO - He was a little wide-eyed. It's a little strange
to describe Ellis Burks that way. Normally he's Mr. Cool. The man
with the expensive Italian suits, fast cars. His expression rarely
changes except when he's exchanging a joke or two with teammates.
"I'm excited right now, can't you tell?" said Burks, looking
around at a clubhouse of stars.

He was standing at his locker at Wrigley Field. He was an
All-Star for the first time. All the potential labels that have
