KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Steve Crawford hasn't seen Tom Bolton
for a while. The former Red Sox righty and now middle reliever in
the Royals' bullpen couldn't believe his eyes after Bolton pitched
a complete game in a 2-1 loss to the Royals.
"I told Kevin Seitzer before the game that he was like
Pete Filson, throwing 81 or 82 miles an hour," Crawford said.
"After he faced him a few times, he said he's throwing 86 or 87
miles an hour. He's nasty."
Nasty Tom Bolton, Boston's sixth starter, has suddenly
thrust himself into the rotation. He has surrendered only two
earned runs in his last 16 innings as a starter.
Asked if Bolton would remain in Boston's starting rotation,
