Article: ALDEN FRENCH JR., 56 FORMER COURIER CORP. PRESIDENT

Alden French Jr. of Annisquam, former president of Courier Corp. of Lowell, printer and book manufacturer, died of pneumonia at Massachusetts General Hospital yesterday, seven weeks after a stroke. He was 56 and a former resident of Concord.

Mr. French joined the company in 1964 and became president and chief operating officer in 1978. He became vice chairman in 1988 and resigned in 1989 because of his wife's illness. At the time of his death, he was a director.
