Just when you think you know what you're doing, even the most
confident cook can be cut down to size by a disaster in the kitchen.
You bake, you makeyour own chicken broth exactly the way Grandma
wishes she had, you whip up souffles -- you think you have the
kitchen thing licked. Forget it. None of this, not even a couple of
years spent at the Culinary Institute of America, will save you from
the occasional kitchen crisis. Trust me, I know. I know because I've
just suffered through one of those great cooking crises, and I'm
still not sure where I went wrong.
