Article: NATO Seeks Talks With N. African, Mideast States on Islamic Militants

NATO decided today to seek talks with five North African and Middle Eastern states to develop a joint strategy to combat any security threat posed by Islamic extremists.

The decision to launch a dialogue with Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia and Mauritania was made by NATO ambassadors after a strategy review concluded that the alliance needs to pay greater attention to the dangers of instability on its southern flank.
