New Kids on the Block - yes, there's that name again -- are
the most overexposed, overpromoted, overmarketed group in pop
history. Their very name brings groans from folks who don't
understand all the fuss and don't want to. The music station MTV --
once part of the overkill process -- has even stopped featuring the
group's videos since "nothing offends an adult viewer more than New
Kids," admits one MTV honcho.
The New Kids, knowing they must take another tack, are now
trying desperately to be the New Adults on the Block.
The Boston-bred group is back in the area for shows at the
Providence Civic Center tomorrow and Friday; and at the Worcester
Centrum Dec. 14-16. But they return ...
