WINTER PARK, Colo. - We had come in search of hamburgers --
not to Winter Park but to an establishment there -- and found only
beer, the kitchen having closed.
But a local resident helped us out. "Tell you what you do, you
go 'cross the street there and get yourself a Cajun Burger and if
it ain't the best you ever had, you can come back here and whup
me."
This is not the kind of advice you would hear at Vail, where
they would be more likely to send you for coq au vin and where
though there actually is a Burger King it is discreetly hidden.
This is one of the joys of Winter Park. It hasn't been
"developed" yet. Sure, there are condos, but they are off in the
woods, and it's dark ...
