Most authors long to be interviewed after publishing their first
book. Not Lyn Crost. "Why are you asking about me?" she asks. "It's
their story that's important, not mine."
Well, yes. Except that part of that story is what moved a 79-year-
old former war correspondent to push her way back into print, half a
century after retiring from journalism, to document the extraordinary
and too-little-known valor of Japanese American troops during World
War II.
Her book, "Honor by Fire," is the first comprehensive effort to
examine the poignant loyalty and heroism of American citizens
fighting and dying for a nation that had forced them off their land
and their families behind barbed wire.
