Article: Boston couple donates $10 million to aid Pa. medical school students

Hoping to free young doctors from huge medical school debts that may cause them to forgo research, teaching or family medicine in favor of high-profit specialties, a Boston doctor and his wife have donated $10 million to eliminate tuition for some students at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.

The extraordinary gift, to be announced today, has made other medical school officials gasp in surprise and envy. But they also say they doubt that such private generosity can be duplicated at many institutions.
