America's chicken chains are wandering beyond the coop.
As scores of new chicken restaurants fight for pecking order among
themselves and other food chains, they're taking the war to a wider
front by adding red meat, turkey, salads and even tacos to menus
typically dominated by chicken legs, thighs and breasts.
Yesterday, Boston Chicken took the most daring venture out of the
henhouse yet, saying it would change its name to Boston Market and
add a host of new entrees, from meat loaf to ham, at its 530
locations -- including 26 in the Washington area.
Boston Chicken hopes the change will put it at a level above the
flock of competitors from KFC to Kenny Rogers Roasters. At the same
