As the two-time defending World Series champions prepared to take the field on a foggy morning here for their first workout of spring training, their manager was worrying about the fundamentals.

That's normal in baseball at this time of the year, of course. In this case, however, Bob Didier wasn't fretting about the way the Toronto Blue Jays execute a bunt or a pickoff play.

"We're trying to get all their cleats the same color," Didier said. "We want to get everyone wearing the same color sleeves. We don't want to look like a semi-pro team. We want to look like a professional team."
