Article: Clinton urged to intervene on Bosnia Lawmakers ask action to break Sarajevo siege

WASHINGTON -- Amid growing fears that Serb forces may actually overrun the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, dozens of members of Congress sharply criticized President Clinton yesterday, saying he should seek support from US allies to intervene militarily and break the Serb siege.

In an open letter to Clinton, the lawmakers, including six from the Massachusetts delegation, said that if the siege is not lifted and a cease-fire declared, NATO forces should bomb Serb positions.

"We believe that, with the effective leadership that you could exert as president of the United States of America, you can get the international community to agree to take these actions," the congressmen told Clinton.
