"The X-Files," a series that depicts bizarre and often grisly
incidents meant to "scare the pants off people," as creator Chris
Carter put it, has recently been reaping a lot of rewards.
The Fox show, starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI
agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, invited viewers to take a closer
look after it won the 1994 Golden Globe award for best television
series. It is also endorsed by Viewers for Quality Television, and
Entertainment Weekly picked it as the best series of the year, over
ferocious competition from shows such as "NYPD Blue" and "ER."
As "The X-Files" brings more viewers to television Friday nights
