Sheila Rauch Kennedy yesterday said that her ex-husband, Rep.
Joseph P. Kennedy 2d, is attempting to invalidate through annulment
their 12-year marriage even though it took place after extensive
consultations with Catholic clergy and a long courtship.
In a telephone interview, she explained her opposition to the
congressman's attempt to seek an annulment, a so-called "Catholic
divorce." She said that they both participated in lengthy
discussions with his parish priest and her family priest before their
1979 wedding.
"I went through all sorts of hoops for him," she said. "I think
we got a heavier dosage about what a Catholic marriage was because I
was non-Catholic. It was he who wanted it ...
