Scott Meikle is highly hep in a silky red-and-black smoking
jacket. Too young to actually recall the swingers' era and therefore
unaware that smoking jackets generally did not require neckwear, he
has added a skinny '50s tie from his collection. His friend, "the
lovely Nancy Fremont," wears a vintage black number that was
fashionable when the big bands blared. They are seated at a choice
banquette at the Loser's Lounge, waiting.
All around the intimate, low-ceilinged room, people in their
twenties and thirties who've tired of mosh pits and flannelfests are
drinking martinis and Manhattans and waiting too. The Loser's Lounge,
