FOXBOROUGH -- When Ray Crittenden picks up a football with his
feet, he does not appear to be complying with National Football
League protocol. But as a former soccer player, Crittenden is
inclined to save himself the effort of bending over; he simply flicks
the ball with a heel onto the top of his other foot, then flips it
into the air.
Such stunts, common among the younger generation in this country,
have caused consternation among his Patriot coaches and teammates.
Since the beginning of training camp, Crittenden has been teased
about his soccer training, though it should be noted that Vincent
Brown, a former central defender in high school soccer, has seldom
attracted such taunts. ...
