D.C. corrections Officer Jean Contee testified yesterday that some
male officers often tell female inmates they have visitors, then take
them instead "to an isolated area where they have sex with them in
exchange for chips, sodas, money for their canteen, whatever."
Contee also became the second witness to tell a U.S. District
Court jury that some female inmates have been taken to D.C. General
Hospital for abortions because they became pregnant while
incarcerated.
Her testimony was given in the trial of a class-action lawsuit
filed on behalf of seven current and former female employees and one
