Article: Jeeps fall victim to The Dunes

REVERE -- William Weld the governor, Richard Biegger the real estate manager and Robert Pagliuso the plumber -- they and scores of Jeep lovers like them share one dubious distinction.

They all have had their cars stolen in the past year or so and then had them trashed by hoodlums in demolition derbies at "The Dunes."

Last weekend was no exception: eight Jeeps smashed, seven beyond repair, and an estimated $250,000 insurance tab whose ripple effect will be felt by Massachusetts ratepayers.

And apparently there is no end in sight.

"It's sad, but the kids always seem to find a way in," said Revere Police Lt. Dennis Collier.
