Helen (Doyle) Venn, retired director of Radcliffe College's
publishing procedures course, died Friday of supranuclear palsy in
Ledgewood Nursing Care Center in Beverly. She was 79 and a former
resident of Ipswich.
Born in Wedderburn, Ore., Mrs. Venn graduated from the University
of Oregon.
She was the director of the publishing procedures course at
Radcliffe for 33 years. She retired in 1980 from the annual six-week
summer book and magazine publishing program, which she joined at its
inception in 1947. The course was called the shortest graduate
school in the world and the most prestigious crash course in
publishing.
