Article: MWRA chief seeks response to charges Asks Merrill Lynch for documents

Douglas B. MacDonald, executive director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, has directed Merrill Lynch & Co. to respond to charges that the firm landed its position as the agency's lead underwriter through confidential information improperly leaked to it.

In a Tuesday letter to the investment house, MacDonald asked the firm to provide him with documents relating to charges that Merrill Lynch won its position as the MWRA's lead underwriter in 1989 and 1992 through inside information provided by Mark S. Ferber, then the MWRA's independent financial adviser.
