Closing its 1993 session in a marathon session, the Massachusetts
Legislature yesterday gutted a voter-approved corporate tax
disclosure law, passed the first housing bond package in seven years,
and overrode several of Gov. Weld's vetoes.
Lawmakers handed Weld a victory by finally passing his
long-sought truth in sentencing bill, which would tighten prison
sentences by eliminating automatic good time and early parole,
measures that let inmates get out before their full sentence is
complete.
But the Legislature overrode Weld on his veto of a video rental
bill that prevented video store owners from keeping long-term records
