Article: Unidentified Woman Is Found Dead in Falls Church Park

An unidentified woman was found dead yesterday in a Falls Church park, barely 100 yards from City Hall and the police station, in what authorities said was an apparent slaying.

The victim, described as white and 24 to 30 years old, was found by a woman walking her dog about 7:25 a.m. in Cherry Hill Park, police said. The fully clothed body was behind a large holly tree that shielded it from nearby Park Avenue.

In a city of 9,700 where homicides and other serious crimes are rare, the discovery provoked a sense of shock and mystery.
