It was cold outside and snowing to beat the band. Dan Duquette
was home alone at his Fenway office trying to bone up on "The Trials
and Tribulations of Boston Red Sox Past" before he heads for spring
training next Thursday.
So, while the snow piled up, the warm sights and sounds of spring
training were not so far away.
Clubhouse man Joe Cochran was piling up the equipment to be packed
on the van, which leaves Friday afternoon for Fort Myers.
That city, likewise, is preparing for the advent of spring
training. While Fenway was a blanket of white yesterday, the grass
in City of Palms Park was greener and thicker than ever, according to
