Article: State policy is due soon on fertility drug funds

The Weld administration is expected to announce a formal policy shortly on whether the state should continue to provide fertility drugs to recipients of Medicaid, the state-federal health insurance program for poor people.

The Division of Medical Assistance, which administers Medicaid, began reviewing the issue earlier this week after two Republican legislators contended that the administration was using taxpayers' money to enable "welfare mothers" to have more children.
