Franklin Arthur Gibbons Jr., 82, a retired executive vice
president of Riggs National Bank who was active in professional,
service and church organizations, died of a heart attack March 22 at
Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington, Va.
Mr. Gibbons, who was traveling when he was stricken, lived in
Arlington. He was born in Washington, and he graduated from Central
High School and the Columbus University School of Accounting. During
World War II, he served in the Coast Guard in the Pacific.
He began his career with Riggs in 1932 as a messenger. He was
executive vice president when he retired in 1977.
