L. Ralston Thomas, former headmaster of Moses Brown School in
Providence, died yesterday in Bethany Home in Providence. He was
104.
Mr. Thomas was born in Avondale, Pa. He graduated from Haverford
College in Pennsylvania and earned a master's degree in education at
Harvard University in 1925.
He began his career as a chemistry teacher, house master and
athletic director at Westtown Friends School in Pennsylvania. From
1919 to 1922 he held similar jobs at Moses Brown School, which he
left in 1922 to become principal of the Friends Central School in
Philadelphia. He returned to become headmaster at Moses Brown School
in 1925.
