You don't think the renditions of "Jeremy," about a teen suicide,
and "Alive," a defiant, proud affirmation of that state of being, had
special resonance during Pearl Jam's soldout concert at Boston Garden
last night?
Oh yes, chills went right up and down the spine.
Singer Eddie Vedder admitted from the stage that he had doubts
about whether Pearl Jam should even play. Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's
leader and Pearl Jam's antagonist-peer-rival, had killed himself just
days earlier; a memorial service in Seattle was yesterday afternoon.
