Richard Thompson, godfather of grunge?
"Well, I think so," the droll singer-guitarist says, on the phone
from Columbus, Ohio, during a tour stop. "I was doing the `holes in
the plaid shirts' back in '67."
Richard Thompson, musician on the move? Pioneer on the proper
path?
"Um, yes, sometimes," says Thompson, with a slight laugh. "I'm
not sure where the path is, or if I find the path I'm not sure where
it's going." Cheerfully mixing metaphors, he adds, "Generally
speaking, I think I have a foot on the bottom rung of the ladder."
