Article: A `Tales' sequel still possible

Will "More Tales of the City" air on PBS after all? Slim chance, perhaps. But yesterday, American Program Service, the Boston-based organization that brokers much of PBS' programming, approached American Playhouse about just such a production. American Playhouse is the New York-based producer of the original six-hour "Tales of the City" miniseries based on Armistead Maupin's celebrated books about San Francisco in the '70s and '80s.

APS said several of the biggest affiliates -- including Boston's WGBH -- want to air a sequel, and that those affiliates might raise part of the budget themselves. PBS last week said it would not fund "More Tales," leading Maupin to charge that PBS had bowed ...
