Article: Civil Liberties Union official arrested briefly for note taking

A Civil Liberties Union official was arrested and briefly detained Wednesday after he refused to stop taking notes in a Worcester courtroom.

Ronal C. Madnick, executive director of the Worcester County chapter of the Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, said he was arrested and handcuffed by a court officer in Worcester District Court.

The arrest occurred after the court officer asked Madnick several times to stop taking notes and reading as he sat in the back row of the the courtroom during the 10 a.m. proceeding.
