The trouble with on-air television work is that when you get fired, even strangers know about it. Channel 7 sportscaster Eric Clemons, whose contract will not be renewed when his three-year deal ends this month, has been forced to publicly philosophize about his misery.

"In most businesses, people who go through this would wonder about their competence. But TV is different. I tell myself there were other reasons -- style, salary . . .," says Clemons, for whom this is not a new experience. Before joining Channel 7, he was let go at ESPN.
