LENOX -- All kinds of little things went wrong with the Boston Camerata's program of folk hymns of New England Wednesday night. But in the end everything important turned and came around right. This was a program rich in historical interest, musical significance and spiritual power.

The major rediscovery was a selection of spirituals from the Shaker communities of New England and Kentucky, many of which were probably being heard for the first time in more than a century.
