The idea is simple. But will it be enough to make Sled Dogs the
next fad of winter?
The starting point is a pair of in-line roller skates. Remove the
wheels from beneath each boot and replace them with what is
essentially a sawed-off ski fixed to the sole.
The result is Sled Dogs, though the actual models use all sorts of
high-tech innovations to make the boot and its replaceable fixed-sole
gliding plate a single lightweight unit.
The wearer is now ready to "snow-skate." Shod with Sled Dogs, a
downhill dervish can schuss, slide and slalom over snow. Not only is
