QUEBEC CITY -- The words "struggle," "solidarity" and
"sovereignty" mingled with the heavy smoke in the Art Deco Theatre
Capitole, where talk was of a "rendezvous with history" and the drive
to "make a people into a country."
But now that the cheers of the Parti Quebecois celebration have
faded from the old music hall, the new separatist government of
Quebec is faced with an important question, one that can't be
addressed with rallies and slogans: What would an independent Quebec
be like?
In the wake of the Parti Quebecois' victory in Monday's provincial
elections, , increasing numbers of Quebecers are contemplating how
this would be a different place if the maple leaf flag no longer flew ...
