Article: Couple honors Holocaust victims with BSO opener

It's a long way from war-torn Hungary to a handsome Commonwealth Avenue flat, an illustrious wife and an international reputation for photographic skill, but Bela Kalman hasn't forgotten where he came from and the great distance he has traveled.

Next week, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the end of the war and particularly in memory of the Hungarian victims of the Holocaust, Kalman and his Brookline-bred wife, Edna, will sponsor the opening-night appearance of soloist Itzhak Perlman as the Boston Symphony Orchestra begins its 114th season.
