The address, 966 Commonwealth Ave., is now the site of an
automotive business, but in 1953 it was the location of Warren
Spahn's Restaurant.
The only problem, joked the Hall of Fame pitcher, was that "the
restaurant opened in Boston -- but the Braves opened in Milwaukee."
Spahn, along with Johnny Sain and Sibby Sisti, teammates on the
1948 National League pennant-winning Boston Braves, were inducted
into the Boston Braves Historical Association Hall of Fame yesterday
before a nostalgia-soaked gathering of more than 200 Braves buffs and
team alumni at Boston University's College of General Studies.
