Article: Maurice Auslander, 68 Math professor at Brandeis

A funeral will be held tomorrow for Maurice Auslander of Boston, a professor of mathematics at Brandeis University for 37 years, who died of cancer Nov. 18 while attending a conference in Trondheim, Norway. He was 68.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Auslander earned a bachelor's degree and doctorate in mathematics at Columbia University.

He served in the Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Prior to joining the staff at Brandeis University in 1957, he taught at Columbia University, the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan. ...
