The Orpheum Theatre, last night
One thing about beginning your career as an avant-garde
retro/futurist: It's just possible that, say, two decades down the
line, those old songs won't sound like crusty relics, but might be
possessed with the same crazy vitality they had at the get-go, albeit
played mostly by folks not there at the inception.
Such was the case last night for ever-suave, but endearingly
gawky, Bryan Ferry, the former (but never say never) singer of Roxy
Music, who sold out and held sway over an ecstatic Orpheum audience
for 95 minutes. Not that it was a golden oldies show. It's just
that the early Roxy tunes Ferry chose to unearth ...
