Two Prince William residents who hoped to be in the thick of mud-
racing competition next year were among three spectators killed
Saturday when a four-wheel-drive car went out of control and slammed
into the crowd at a rural Virginia track. Six others were injured, at
least two critically.
Christopher Redmon, 21, and a 17-year-old boy, Erin Doughty, both
of Woodbridge, were close friends who recently had become interested
in mud-bog racing, an increasingly popular sport in which drivers
race four-wheel-drive vehicles through man-made, four-foot-deep
rivers of mud, their friends said yesterday.
