Helen (DeBoer) Van Wyk of Rockport, an artist, teacher and
well-known member of the Rockport art community, died Tuesday in
Salem Hospital. She was 64.
The former host of the educational TV show "Welcome to My Studio,"
Mrs. Van Wyk's works, primarily still lifes and portraits, have been
exhibited in the National Academy of Design in New York City, the
Ogunquit (Maine) Art Center, the Butler Institute of American Art in
Ohio and the Rockport Art Association.
A painter for more than 50 years and art teacher since age 17,
she also wrote several books on painting technique.
