Article: Fallen Officers Remembered; Eight Who Died in Line of Duty Honored at D.C. Memorial Service

It began yesterday with the national anthem and ended with three police helicopters flying overhead, outlined against a brilliant azure sky as taps played mournfully.

Between those gestures of respect, high-ranking local and national law enforcement officials gathered in front of police headquarters at the D.C. Municipal Center to pay tribute to six Washington area officers killed in the line of duty in the last two years and two who died in previous years.
