NEW YORK -- The timing is perfect. Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and
Robert Plant are mounting their first tour in years next month. In a
quirk of fate, they were the focal point of the 10th annual Rock Hall
of Fame awards last night in Manhattan, where they were inducted by
Boston's own Aerosmith.
Neil Young, the Allman Brothers, Al Green, Martha Reeves & the
Vandellas, Janis Joplin and Frank Zappa were also inducted, but the
Zep alums provided the electricity. "They were like Lord Byron --
mad, bad and dangerous to know," said Aerosmith's Joe Perry. "It was
kind of like Howling Wolf meets the Loch Ness monster."
