Rico Leon Cunningham yesterday came to the end of a road he had
traveled for some time.
Cunningham, 15, and a 19-year-old man died in a blazing gun battle
that erupted about 4:30 p.m. between two groups of young people in
two cars across the street from the Patricia Roberts Harris Education
Center in the Washington Highlands neighborhood in far Southeast
Washington.
Police did not identify either of the people killed. However,
relatives of Cunningham, of Fourth Street SE, said he was pronounced
dead at D.C. General Hospital.
Cunningham, who at one time attended the Harris school in the 4500
block of Livingston Road SE, was the grandson of Rosa Lee Cunningham,
a woman whose life story was the ...
