Gerald Henderson walked toward the Boston Garden scorer's table and waited. Next opportunity, the Celtics guard was going to be checking into the game. At least that was how the NBA's evening stroll usually worked. Your coach gave you a motion, you went to the table and, when you heard that checking-in horn, you replaced a teammate.
