Beth Israel HealthCare and Lahey Hitchcock Clinic are close to a
deal that would link one of Boston's premier teaching hospitals with
Lahey's massive network of 830 physicians, according to sources close
to the institutions.
Though the deal could fall through at the last minute, insiders
say the two have been talking for about a year and an alliance will
likely be announced within a few weeks. The talks culminated in an
daylong summit Friday, after which both sides emerged with reports of
"positive progress."
While officials at Beth Israel and Lahey confirmed that
negotiations are continuing, neither would comment on the timing or
details of a possible agreement.
