NATICK -- In 1964, Jeff Brown wrote a children's book about a little boy named Stanley Lambchop who is flattened accidentally when a bulletin board falls on him while he sleeps.

Nobody can figure out how to restore him to his original shape, but while they ponder, his parents and others put Stanley's half-inch-thick body to good use. His mother dangles him down a sewer grate to retrieve her dropped ring. His parents put him in an envelope and mail him to California to save air fare.
